Well, we've just had the Welsh International Airgun Championships. Quite a rollercoaster of an event, both in results and emotions.

In the first of the prone events, I took gold in the R5 class, it felt really good as I'd only managed 4th in last years competition. The next day was the second of the prone events but I wasn't so lucky and managed to take the bronze medal. I'd had problems with pain in my stump throughout the day and this stopped me from feeling at my best during the shoot. At one point I even felt like walking away, but then the stubborn in me kicked in and I continued on.

Day three was the first of the standing events. I was still not feeling right from the day before but shot anyway, and picked up another bronze. Last day today and I'm feeling much better. Last chance to get any metalwork, and I did it. I was tied in 1st place with another athlete and took the gold medal based on count back.

What a few days!!

This weekend was the first of the British Shooting Air Series weekend. I was entered in the para prone and the standing events.

In the para prone, I shot a new R5 Personal Best and came 2nd in the qualification round. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite so lucky in the final where I was only able to make it 4th place.

In the standing event, I came 3rd in my detail and was 26th overall.

On the way home from Stoke Mandeville last week, I received an email informing me that I have been invited to attend the British Shooting Talent Academy for the 2024/25 season. I couldn't say anything at the time but today the official announcement has been made by British Shooting.

This weekend saw me at the DSGB Nationals competition at Stoke Mandeville. I was taking part in the R4 and R5 events and I didn't have my usual loader as he was busy doing other things. Instead, I had my son with me, who has never loaded for me before so I gave him a quick run down of what I needed him to do on the way to the first day of the event. He picked things up quickly and I managed to shoot a new Personal Best yesterday.

Today wasn't quite so good, I couldn't settle on the firing line. I was a long way off my best score for R5.

The results for me for this weekend are; R4 - silver and R5 - bronze.

Had my Assessment Day with British Shooting at NSRA Aldersley today. Was a long day but enjoyable. Several coaches were there assessing those of us that were there and they were more than happy to give advice where it was needed. It wasn't all work, we finished off the day with some competitive games.

I will find out by 21st September if I've been successful in being selected.

Over the weekend I entered the first round of the British Shooting Air Series to be held 26-27 October 2024 at NSRA Aldersley. (Round 2, 30/11-01/12/2024 and Round 3, 15-16/02/2025 will also be held at Aldersley and I'll be entering those as soon as they're released).

I also had training at Moreton on Lugg with WAA where we checked whether I would have to adjust the height of my spring for prone as we'd adjusted it in Carmarthen because we're making adjustments to my sights and cheekpiece.

Today, I entered the Welsh International Airgun Championships 2024 which will be in Cardiff at the end of October - beginning of November. This is a four day competition for para athletes, and my second time of entering. Looking forward to it.

Decided to redo my website as I've been a bit remiss with updates etc. Lots has happened this year so I'll try and get things as up to date as I can without too much waffle.
I'll probably write so that the entries are in date order with the most recent on the top.

Swansea Parafest has finished and after a shaky start, I managed to come away with a silver medal in the R4 standing aggregate competition and a 4th place in the R4 final, and a gold medal in the R5 prone aggregate with a silver in the R5 final.
Really happy but totally exhausted after the two days of competition.

Was great to see so many athletes there this year, I had to earn my medals this time round, and good to catch up with fellow shooters over the weekend.

Finally classified as a SH2 athlete!!

Today I was  officially awarded my WSPS National Classification of SH2aa. Hopefully this will now open up a whole lot of new competitions and experiences for me.
